Paula Stewart

On leading transformational workshops

There are people we meet in our lives which change the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us. People who make us believe in our own abilities and who show us all the possibilities out there. They come with an open mind and heart and invite us to start the new journey. Let me share mine. Interestingly enough, I wasn’t really looking for major changes in my life, at least not consciously. But when the opportunity presented itself, I didn’t think twice. There was this voice inside me telling me to try. And I knew I was in the safest hands I could possibly be. That’s how my truly amazing transformational workshop with Paula started. We met in a small group each week, connecting remotely from three different places located miles away from one another. I’m very old-fashioned if it comes to connecting online and would always choose a face-to-face interaction over the remote one. I often find it much more challenging to create this unique and genuine human connection using just technology. I was proved to be wrong. Paula’s ability to create an authentic bond between workshop participants and herself is truly unique. Her empathetic and observant nature allows her to see through every single emotion which she deeply cares for. Through a series of questions, she invites self-reflection and provides clear guidance for change to happen. Every conversation is carefully thought and creates an opportunity to look inside yourself. Every activity shows the possibility to improve something and make yourself accountable for the change we aim to see in our lives.  The effects are incredible. You suddenly find yourself paying more attention to what’s truly important in your life. And without even noticing, you start making time for things to happen. Time spent with your partner, your kids, or yourself is much more meaningful and of better quality. It’s been a few sessions, but words cannot express how grateful I am for the chance to be a part of Paula’s workshop. I feel happier, fearless and enjoy life more than ever before. I have also grown so much stronger. In addition to that, I have learnt some valuable techniques to create a measurable plan that allows me to implement my desired goals. And most importantly, I gained a new dear friend who’s been so supportive through all that time.

The workshop with Paula was an extraordinary experience that allowed me to look at myself more closely than ever before. I discovered the treasures hidden under the mask of challenges, fears, losses, and sometimes pain, and I started to turn them into a priceless gift which is my inner power. We met in a time of global change. Paula showed me (still shows) how to use these changes to fulfill my dreams of a better, more beautiful, and fulfilled life. She taught me how to take risks and find treasures hidden inside of me, how to change challenges into development opportunities. And all this happened in an atmosphere of trust and a deep sense of security for me.

On facilitating XSCALE training for Agile coaches...

“It’s rare that you come across standout talent like Paula. I collaborated with Paula on remote training for 70 Agile coaches of the largest bank in the eastern bloc. Above all, I was amazed by her adaptive and understanding capacity as well as her facilitation and active listening techniques that led to incredibly efficient training despite the complex nature of XSCALE concepts. To top it all, she's reliable no matter how tense a situation can be, and she's doing it with a legendary smile. Anyone should consider himself lucky to collaborate and work with her.” – Issame El Kharbili, Business Agility & Executive Coach, CEO of WoMAT

On being an Agile coach...

"Paula is one of those people that is more valuable than her title. She has an immense amount of experience in the technology industry and is wise beyond her daily duties. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for empirical data have led her along a path of "prove it" and she can back up her advice with facts. At Dice, she was able to coach and guide the organization to better understand the work that we wanted to execute and align us around what we wanted to accomplish. I would *love* to work with her again!" - Shannon Griswold, E-Commerce Architect, Digital Products Team Manager, Red Robin

On being a startup CIO...

“Paula Stewart came on board as a consulting CIO and within a few short weeks established herself as a great leader and visionary who is transforming our company. She quickly identified application performance issues and worked with the development team to resolve them in little over a month. We are thrilled to have Paula as a member of our executive team.” – Robert Stavis, Ph.D., M.D., President, CEO of Grand Rounds Software

On being a business intelligence solution architect...

"Paula came to work with my team when we were writing reports utilizing Excel spreadsheets. In six months of working directly with clinicians, she created our first self-serve business intelligence solution. The impact was enhanced patient safety, better pharmaceutical clinical trials, and analytics for feasibility analysis. She designed, developed, and implemented the solution and trained clinicians. I e-mailed her after she had left, letting her know that we had expanded her solution to multiple business lines." - Director, DaVita

“Paula is a technically skilled solution provider with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. She understands what business wants to achieve and chooses the best way to reach that goal, minimizing the amount of effort required to develop and maintain software. On being a solution architect...

"Paula was the technical and solution architect for moving a mainframe system with eighty years of Vital Statistics data to a relational database. She was the delivery lead. She was the one to discover the original vendor was not capable of delivering the solution promised and protected us from lawsuits by her system perspective and detailed business and technical acumen. My entire team relied on her to facilitate requirements, architecture, design, and implementation of the solution we successfully implemented. She was responsible for creating the data migration process and we had less than one percent data issues. She was a lifeboat." – Ken Jones, Director of Vital Statistics, Florida Department of Health

On being a business intelligence engineer..

"Paula came to work with our business intelligence team. Paula streamlined data linkages, and data profiling and cleanup so that we could put socio-economic, family, health, and infectious disease together to quickly identify babies at risk for HIV. This led to early testing and treatment of those babies. When she presented the design, the HIV/AIDS staff applauded her. In twenty years working for the State of Florida, I had never seen anyone else applauded for a solution presentation. – JoAnn Steele, Program Director, Florida Department of Health
